How to Brush Your Teeth the Right Way

Brushing your teeth sounds simple, but many people do it too fast or with too much pressure. A gentle, slow approach works best.

Use a soft toothbrush. Hold it at a slight angle toward the gumline. Make small, light circles instead of scrubbing back and forth. This removes plaque without damaging the gums.

Take your time. A full brushing should last about two minutes. Make sure to clean the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces of each tooth.

Don’t forget your tongue. Bacteria collect there and can cause bad breath.

If you’re not sure about your brushing technique, ask your dental hygienist to show you. A quick demonstration can make brushing easier and more effective every day.
